Black History Month at Pamplin: Virginia’s Enslaved Cooks

Dr. Kelley Deetz will speak on her recently published book, Bound to the Fire: How Virginia’s Enslaved Cooks Helped Invent American Cuisine. A limited number of books will be available for purchase and signing. Following Dr. Deetz’s talk, Wisteria Perry will provide a tour of the recreated Tudor Hall kitchen quarter and explain how plantation kitchens functioned.

Black History Month events are included with regular paid Park admission or active Park memberships.
