Each summer Pamplin Historical Park & The National Museum of the Civil War Soldier offers professional educators an opportunity to study the Civil War and Reconstruction through classes that combine classroom experience with tours and hands-on activities at Pamplin Historical Park.
Learn new teaching methods, activities, and strategies to use in the classroom that will engage students as they learn about slavery, the Civil War, and Reconstruction. Exchange ideas with colleagues from a wide range of educational backgrounds and experiences. Tour area sites and realize the wealth of educational resources available in central Virginia. Discover ways to make history dynamic, meaningful, and alive in your classroom.
We are offering a 5-day seminar July 10-14, 2017 entitled Practical Applications for Teaching Slavery, the Civil War, and Reconstruction. The program will be held from 9:00am to 4:00pm daily with a continental breakfast provided at 8:30am. Lunch is on your own. Participants will earn 30 VDOE Professional Development points. Registration required, space is limited.
