New Operating Hours
Pamplin Historical Park & The National Museum of the Civil War Soldier will be open to walk-in visitation weekly, Friday through Sunday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. beginning June 7, 2024. School and adult groups of 10 or more are still invited to schedule tours, educational programs or facility rentals seven days a week. Those who wish to book groups of 10 or more, educational programs or inquire and book facility rentals can call (804) 861-2408 or email generalmailbox@pamplinpark.org.
Current Pamplin Historical Park members and Dinwiddie County Residents only can continue to enjoy walking the park’s trails by checking-in and parking at 6619 Duncan Rd., Petersburg, VA 23803 between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

Located near Petersburg, Virginia, Pamplin Historical Park is about 30 minutes south of Richmond and is convenient to both Interstates 95 and 85 and US Highways 1 and 460.

From Richmond and Points North:
Take I-95 south to I-85 south, to Exit 63-A (U.S. 1 south). Proceed one mile to Park entrance on the left. The Park is 30 minutes south of Richmond.
From Appomattox and Points West:
Take U.S. 460 east to U.S. 1 north. Proceed 1/2 mile to Park entrance on the right. The Park is 90 minutes east of Appomattox.
From Williamsburg:
Take I-64 west to I-295 south. Travel south to Rt. 895 west. Take Rt. 895 west to I-95 south. Travel south on I-95 to Petersburg. Take 1-85 south to Exit 63-A (U.S. 1 south). Proceed one mile to Park entrance on the left. The Park is 1 hour & 15 minutes from Williamsburg.
From Suffolk and Hampton Roads:
Take U.S. 460 west. At Petersburg, U.S. 460 becomes I-85. Follow I-85 south to Exit 63-A (U.S. 1 south). Proceed 1 mile to Park entrance on the left. The Park is two hours or less from all points in Hampton Roads.
From Charlotte and Durham, NC, and Points Southwest:
Take I-85 north to Exit 61 (US 460). Turn right at the exit then left on US 1 North. Proceed 1/2 mile to Park entrance on your right. The Park is 2 hours from Durham.
From Raleigh:
Take U.S. Highway 1 north to I-85 north and proceed to Exit 61. Turn right at the exit then left on US 1 North. Proceed 1/2 mile to Park entrance on the right. The Park is two hours from Raleigh.
From Jacksonville, FL, and Myrtle Beach, SC and Points South:
Take I-95 north to Petersburg then take I-85 south. Proceed approximately 5 miles to Exit 63-A (U.S. 1 south). Proceed one mile to Park entrance on your left.
Directions for School Groups, Special Events, Civil War Adventure Camp, and Park Administrative Offices:
Follow the directions above to U.S. 1. use route 670 (Duncan Road), which is 1/4 mile north of the Park entrance, to reach the School Group Entrance (Education Center), Park Administrative Offices, and the Civil War Adventure Camp.
