24th Annual Civil War Symposium: Winning Big: Lopsided Victories

The distinguished panel of speakers includes: Dr. Stewart L. Bennett, Chair & Professor of History Blue Mountain College, Mr. Gary Ecelbarger, Mr. Michael J. McCarthy, Mr. James A. Ogden, III, Dr. George C. Rable, Professor Emeritus University of Alabama, Mr. Gordon Rhea and Mr. Jeffry D. Wert.
These speakers will present topics ranging from the familiar like the battles of Cold Harbor and Fredericksburg to the battles of Atlanta and Brice’s Crossroads. Additional lectures will share the experiences and results from battles of Cedar Creek and Five Forks.
This popular event is open to the general public. Cost per attendee is $339.00 for all three days. The price includes all lectures, the Friday night reception, two mid-morning coffee breaks, two lunches, and the Saturday night banquet. There will also be opportunities to purchase books written by the speakers and to have them autographed at the event. Space is further limited this year due to COVID-19 spread precautions and social distancing requirements. Pre-reservation and payment are required for all wishing to attend. The health and safety of visitors and staff is a first priority. The park is following the governor of Virginia’s guidelines. Frequent cleaning and sanitation of high contact surfaces is performed daily. Staff members wear face coverings and visitors are encouraged to do so as well. Social distancing of a physical six feet will be maintained throughout the 424-acre park and building occupancy levels will be closely monitored. Hand sanitizer is also available to guests at locations throughout the park.
